Customer Reviews Average rating - 4.0
Rating - 5 Date: 2008-11-21 Content: I'm no die-hard Oasis fan. I have What's the Story(Morning Glory), and that's one of my favorite CDs ever. I also have Don't Believe the Truth, and that's a very decent album. I got Dig Out Your Soul, hoping I'd like it, and I love it. I don't care for tracks 8 or 10, but the rest of it is very solid, and I found the songs stuck in my head after the first listen. I highly recommend this CD to anyone. There's such a good atmosphere to these songs, and they're all different from each other. Summary: A new favorite of mine
Rating - 5 Date: 2008-11-19 Content: This band is unlike so many of the other one hit wonders. They just keep putting out one great album after another. This is far and away their best offering since What's The Story Morning Glory . Summary: Sounds Great !!
Rating - 1 Date: 2008-11-19 Content: Am i a fan of Oasis? No, i'm not. Do i have Definitely Maybe? Of course, since that record has maybe four best songs ever played in UK in last 15 years, especially the #5 - Columbia....everything released after Oasis' debut is not worth of buying if you are over 16 yr of age and you have listened to Blur, Kaiser Chefs or Kings Of Leon. Summary: never trust a NME "best band ever" title
Rating - 4 Date: 2008-11-18 Content: This is probably the best collection of songs Oasis has done since Morning Glory.
As soon as I heard the stomping blues-rock riff of "Bag It Up" I knew I was in for a very promising album.
Interestingly, the rest of the album didn't go the way I expected, but I did find that what lurked inside was of very good quality, its nice to see Oasis branch out sonically a little bit, adding in some more modern sounding beats to the equation. All in all, its a dense, heavy sounding album, with a bit of a psychedelic edge to some of the songs.
Some highlights for me:
-The immense swagger of "The Turning"
-The steam-hammer stomp of "(Get Off Your) High Horse Lady"
-The haunting majestic strings of "Falling Down"
The two lowlights:
-"The Nature Of Reality" does nothing for me. Maybe you'll like it, but it bores me to death, and the sitar on it makes it sound like a crappy rip-off of when the Beatles were doing something similar. Not that I hate the sitar as an instrument, I LOVE "To Be Where There's Life."
-"Ain't Got Nothin'" is such a generic Oasis song that it sounds like self-parody. Oh well, its barely 2 minutes, so it passes quickly.
But really, on the whole, the album is quite impressive. Oasis seems less concerned with conquering the world now and seems to be concentrating on just making good albums. And for that I applaud them, the dedication to their art shows on "Dig Out Your Soul," its a fantastic album. Summary: Good job Oasis!!!
