Rating - 4 Date: 2008-11-22 Content: I wanted to enjoy this first CD by Jennifer Hudson and was not disappointed. I especially appreciate the clarity with which Ms. Hudson sings the lyrics and the feeling she gives them. I predict several hit singles from the CD and all of them have her singing solo. Here's my order for the hits (I didn't include Spotlight, her first single release): We Gon'Fight, Giving Myself, Invisible.
The only duet that I came close to liking was the one with Fantasia. Fantasia has a great singing voice but the producers of her duet with Jennifer would have served her better by sharpening her speaking voice. Unless they intentionally wanted her to sound bad. Keep moving higher, Fantasia!
Okay, back to Jennifer. It was almost eerie that the single gospel song that she chose for her CD is Jesus Promised Me a Home Over There. She gives a stirring rendition. Following the deaths of her family members, I couldn't help but think how fitting this song is.
Ms. Hudson has a long, bright career ahead of her. May her mother smile down from "the home over there." Summary: "Clearly" a winner!
Rating - 5 Date: 2008-11-20 Content: This album is great. I haven't always been a fan of hers but when the ablum came out i decided to get it and i am glad i did. I had to lisgen to it a couple of times and now i can't put it down. Good Job Jennifer! Summary: Great!
Rating - 3 Date: 2008-11-17 Content: I love American Idol, and I voted for Jennifer Hudson to go thru to the finals. So I had to order her CD. It's awesome!! Summary: Jennifer Hudson
Rating - 1 Date: 2008-11-17 Content: AFTER THE LONG WAIT FOR THIS CD, IT IS A HUGE LET DOWN. JENNIFER IS A BETTER SINGER THEN THESE SONGS. ONLY ONES WORTHWHILE ARE SPOTLIGHT, AND I AM TELLING YOU AND THE GOSPEL SONG. OTHER THEN THAT IT'S WORTHLESS AND A WASTE OF HER VOICE. Summary: A BIG DISAPOINTMENT
Rating - 5 Date: 2008-11-10 Content: I was so excited when Jen's CD came out in September. I purchased 5 copies at first, and a few more after that (as Christmas presents). While I do have my favorites on the CD, I think that overall, this is a great first release. I was hoping for more mid-tempo songs like Spotlight or What's Wrong, but thought that Pocketbook was definitely a surprise (a welcomed one). I probably have listed to "Invisible" at least a 200 times, that would definitely have to be my favorite and I absolutely love "If This Is Isn't Love", and recently been listening to "My Heart" a lot more recently as well. So those are my top 3 right now. I like that she blows on all of her songs, but I definitely wouldn't change a thing. I hope everyone who has followed her since American Idol will go out and support her.
