Rating - 4 Date: 2008-11-24 Content: I bought this piece to match my Blu-Ray player. sounds great, rich bass, crisp highs even tho its 650 watts vs my 1000watt system the samsung sounds better. also the 1080p by-pass is for video only! not sound. no ipod hook up, but still a great unit. Summary: Very good sound
Rating - 5 Date: 2008-11-24 Content: I have had quite a few surround sound systems in the past but I just got a samsung TV with a BD player so this was just complimenting both of the other electronics.
The only con i think there is with the product is that it has only 2 hdmi inputs where as they could have added just the one more hdmi port we need.
Just after listening to the radio on this thing which by the way comes with the antenna to hook up fm channels, I was in love with this thing, perfect bass and treble for my ears.
Installation is a breeze just hook your cables up and relax and listen to this baby make you feel like you are on cloud nine. Just the one thing anyone needs to complete there AV setup.
Thank you SAMSUNG to come out with such a great product and making it affordable for us. Summary: Most bang for your buck
Rating - 5 Date: 2008-10-21 Content: The sound from this unit is more than I could have hoped for. As of yet I'm not using the rear speakers because of the location but when we replace the carpet we are going for the full 7.1 sound. I'm more than happy with this equipment. Summary: Great unit for the price
Rating - 1 Date: 2008-10-20 Content: I ordered the Samsung HT-AS720 on October 11, my credit card was charged on October 13, and it arrived on October 17. I spent several hours on the 18th setting it up, running wires to the speakers and connecting it to my HD cable box, Bluray player and HD TV. The AV receiver was dead as soon as I tried to turn it on, just like a previous poster on this board stated. I called Amazon and they are sending me a replacement but it will not arrive until Nov. 20-Dec. 9. So, I am charged for the system two months before I have a working unit (and that's assuming the replacement works!!)
I would HIGHLY suggest, if you take a chance and order this system, that you plug the receiver in and make sure it powers up BEFORE you spend any time running wires and hooking it up.
I'll post another review if I ever get this system working. Summary: Not happy!!
Rating - 4 Date: 2008-09-25 Content: I upgraded from an older Kenwood surround sound system to the Samsung HT-AS720S, and I must say the sound is awesome. I was blown away by the full HD surround sound. It's louder, crisp and clear. I can hear so much more than I did with my older system. The subwoofer can put out some serious bass. If the system is set-up correctly you will enjoy theater quality sound right in your home.
Functionality is a different bag. I currently have my PS3 and Xbox connected to the system. For the most part it works just fine, but every once in a while I have to shut-off the receiver and turn it back on when I hear static coming through. Haven't found out exactly how this happens. Most recently I purchased a brand new Samsung LCD TV. With my old DLP I had no video problems. With this TV connected to the receiver I get this message, "Mode not compatible". I have to turn off then turn on the system just to get a picture. This is discouraging when you consider that both the TV and surround sound system are both Samsung. Other than that, I really have no other gripe.
The system is great and if you have several devices to connect, the receiver supports it. The system allows for 6 or 7.1 surround sound as well. I'm am very satified with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone.
Summary: The sound is awesome. Functionality...that's a different story
