Rating - 5 Date: 2008-08-14 Content: This is a great grill. It looks good on our deck and is large enough to cook food for our family of 5 and many more. Even my husband...who has never been a cook...is suddenly doing the grilling. Clean up is so easy with the removable grill plates. We love the natural gas line...no more running out of propane right when we're ready to cook out. We were worried about the assembly, but it was not too difficult. Overall, we are very happy with this purchase. Be sure to get the Weber 9934 Genesis Premium grill cover...it fits like a glove and provides great protection. Summary: Great Grill...Great price!
Rating - 4 Date: 2008-07-23 Content: This grill was purchased as a Mothers Day gift. It arrived on time and in fine condition. Assembly was accomplished easily with two sets of hands. Although made out of our country, I consider it a fine product. After all, it IS a Weber. Mom has not fired it up yet as she is in her 87th year and waiting for some grands or great-grands to stop in for some grillin'. Summary: Cookin' with gas
Rating - 3 Date: 2008-07-09 Content: On June 8, I bought this for my husband for fathers day. It came 2 days after fathers day, and was damaged. When I contacted Amazon, we were told that because it was a gas item they could not take it back. They suggested we contact Weber, and have them fix it. Which we did. Then July 4 came and went and we still didn't have a grill. Weber had ordered the parts, but the parts had not come in. After several phone calls back and forth to Amazon, they agreed to send a new grill. Yesterday, the new grill finally arrived, and we put it together last night. It seems to be an overall good grill, easy assemply, but we have not yet had an opportunity to use it. Summary: Weber Grill
Rating - 1 Date: 2008-06-23 Content: This product was shipped to poor construction. It was hard to put together. I had to bend several parts to put this together Summary: Shipped Poorly
Rating - 5 Date: 2008-06-14 Content: This is our third natural gas grill. An $800 MHP had a molded aluminum shell which was sturdy, but the interior components rotted in a couple years, requiring replacement at 80% the cost of a new grill. A CharBroil was as bad as the reviews say, but we stretched it to 3 years. Finally got tired of flaking rust from the grills, though it only wound up costing us about $35 a year. :) Finally, this -- back to Weber.
The interior construction & design diverges from these others significantly. You can believe the extended warranty from Weber (keep your paperwork) because they figured out how to do this model right. It's comparatively heavy -- won't blow over in less than a full gale. But the weight all went into "wear pieces"; like a fine Japanese car in 2008, there isn't an ounce of metal you don't need.
Weber's packing is some of the strongest corrugated material I've ever seen. Assembly might be a little longer than the promised half-hour, if only because it takes so long to unpack everything (and a worktable is much better than trying to do outside). If you have an existing gas line for a grill, it's plug & play -- we could have been cooking an hour after our grill was delivered. Bottom line ... we expect to do our next gas grill review in about 2018. (I think it'll be another Weber.)
You won't find a better small grill, suitable for 4, up to 8 in a pinch. (Beyond that, get a charcoal grill for occasional overflow.) Summary: Construction, first and last
