Customer Reviews Average rating - 4.0
Rating - 5 Date: 2008-12-12 Content: The PVX software is very cost effective, and it works great. Just add a Logitech 9000 Pro and your good to go. This little program has allowed me to work from home much more, and flawlessly dials into other polycom and LifeSize conferencing systems.
You do have to be able to follow directions and set your firewall up with the simple configuration settings that are found in the help section of the application. There's nothing difficult about it though, just use common sense.
Try the demo first if your are a novice firewall user.
Also- be sure to download the 8.0.4 update from Polycom if your using a dual core or vista machine. Summary: Works fine for me
Rating - 3 Date: 2008-02-15 Content: Our IT group as well as another company's IT group has spent too much time trying to get this to work.
I have been trying to help the individuals who are using this software and during my research and trials, I came across a FREE standards-based software Apple develops called Xmeeting. It's only for Macs, but if you have a Mac or can get one for this purpose, it may be well worth the hassle of dealing with Polycom or other VTC products who are not savvy with firewalls.
The Xmeeting program ([...]) has a built-in software-based firewall transversal feature (using STUN). The video conference worked flawlessly the first time without any changes to the NAT (firewall) settings.
Other solutions, like Polycom, should be this "intelligent". Kudos to Apple for providing a FREE solution! Summary: Doesn't work well with firewalls
