Rating - 4 Date: 2008-12-29 Content: It's still works great and it has been two years, since I brought this toaster oven in 2006. You can make just about anything you want in it. I mostly use it everyday, for bacon, sauages, and of course toasts or bagels. My only complaint would be that if you don't clean it often and I mean often enough, it is not easy to clean. Daily living sometimes doesn't allow you to clean things when you need to, but if you can do it, clean it often. Otherwise, I am very happy with this toaster. Oh, one more thing sometimes, but rarely, a waffle can shoot up and out of it. Anyway for the price it has been worth it, since the day I brought it works great, and I reheated some good fried chicken and it came out crispy! Summary: It's still works!!
Rating - 1 Date: 2008-12-25 Content: I have been wanting a toaster oven for a while, but my wife doesn't like the way they usually toast. We saw this online, and thought it was the ideal solution (we didn't want to have 2 toasters on the counters). My wife saw this at a store and decided to pick it up. For things like pizza snacks, or reheating chicken fingers, it works well as an oven...UNLESS the items are too thick, then the tops burn before the food is completely cooked. The toaster function? TERRIBLE! The guides/prongs on the side, like in a regular toaster, are only half sized. So for things like Eggo Mini waffles, where there are four in one "slice", or Eggo muffin tops, the items often get jammed and you have to unplug the unit, and fish around to get them out. As many have said, you can't pop them up early if things are burning, which oddly happens often because, again, as the guides/prongs are short, things tend to bend or fold, and one side gets too close to the heating elements. We've had this toaster for about 2 months, and we're going to be picking up a regular toaster this weekend, because we've just had enough. A great idea, but poorly executed. Summary: Ok for the oven, terrible for the toaster
Rating - 4 Date: 2008-12-15 Content: I almost did not buy this toaster oven because of the amount of reviews on the low end of the scale. However, after reading all of the reviews on the high end I decided to give it a shot because I liked the idea of having a 2-in-1 toaster. I was clearly looking for pop-up toaster more than a toaster oven and therefore the small oven size did not weigh heavily in my decision. When the oven arrived, I was quite surprised. The oven has been "improved" and now comes with a toaster cancel button. This seemed to be a big problem with many because you could not stop the toaster cycle mid stream. Well now you can! I clearly think the ratings could/should go higher because of this improvement. The oven size is small and therefore don't buy this if you are looking for a large oven. I am happy with this purchase and glad I took the chance. I give it 4.5 stars. Summary: Not so bad
Rating - 5 Date: 2008-12-12 Content: I read some of the other reviews, and had none of the same complaints that others had. I love this little thing! I have never used a toaster oven before and was pretty skeptical (I wanted a new toaster, my husband wanted a toaster oven so this was the perfect compromise). It toasts much better, more evenly than my old toaster - both as a toaster and as an oven. If I ever need to "pop" up the toast before it's done cooking, there is a cancel button to push on the front that works just fine - you don't need to manually push up the handle on the side to do it.
As an oven, it's been great. I've really only used it to reheat my kids' food, a few chicken nuggets here and there, and they've turned out great. Much better than wasting all that energy using my full-size oven. That being said, I wouldn't try to cook a whole meal in this, it is too small. But I don't think that's what this was made for. I did see that Hamilton Beach also makes this product w/ room for 4 pieces of toast, therefore, making the oven much bigger as well. If you'd want to use this to cook regularly, I'd go with that version. For basic toasting and heating up small things, this is a great product! Summary: Love it!!
Rating - 2 Date: 2008-12-07 Content: The fact you can't quickly 'pop' items that may be burning out of the toaster is a deal breaker for me. It does work well, but is very limited. If a slice of pizza is thick, it may not even fit in the thing. If space is limited, it is a nice little unit. Summary: It is what it is....
