Editorial Reviews Product Description: I have been a professional comedian on the road for over 25 years. I am also a father and a husband. I suffer with obsessive-compulsive disorder. I continually keep journals of the events in my life both professional and personal. I keep these memoirs because I find them therapeutic. I hope you find them entertaining and humorous.

Rating - 5 Date: 2007-04-08 Content: I'm always one to cheer on someone brave enough to share something humorous about their private lives, despite how humiliating some of those events are. It reminds us that we are all 'human'. I got some chuckles out of Howie's short story.
Chrissy K. McVay - Author Summary: Brave Howie
Rating - 5 Date: 2006-12-12 Content: This is an endearing, warmly funny account from an entertainer who is a go-the-distance friend, and an ignore-the-phobias father. What an opportunity this Amazon Short is, as a window into the strengths and vulnerabilities of Howard Mandel. Unadorned souls can be shared in this gifted venue, and Mandel has used the medium with a humorously intimate essence.
I'm impressed that public figures have been inviting the emotional risks of being candidly unedited in sharing their lives and thoughts through Amazon's creative generosity. With each Short I read I'm more amazed at the variances of personalities and purposes pausing to prose here.
In this case, the Amazon Short did not feel as much like a purchase as a heart-in-hand gift, to be appreciated with grace and humility. The humor in this piece was handed over through playful sensitivity exposing unadulterated caring. It explored two phases of Mandel's daily life, the first with his cohort in traveling performances, and the second with his daughter in a shared "adventure."
On the road with Lou, a prankish plan going awry was immediately in motion:
>> As much as I knew this might be funny, it could also boost the ego of my downtrodden friend. <<
Ready or not, here it came, >> ... headed straight for Lou, and as he got to him he began to gag and unloaded his Campbell's chunky vomit all over Lou's shoes. <<
Shifting to the second phase of the Lou-shoe-deal, Mandel confessed, >> I had no idea what to say. I just stared at him without an answer thinking to myself, can you imagine what would be going through his head if I had done this with his underpants. <<
You'll want to read the dramatic lead-up to that thought, to receive the resultant groups of guffaws!
Then, came the transition to the daughter:
>> This next event didn't actually happen on the road but it did happen beside the road.... As I took my first step into the tree line I quickly realized there was a drop-off into a ravine but it was.... For the moment I thought I was brilliant.... I complied to make her happy. Well as happy as a naked little girl can be, with a urine soaked father, in a puddle... <<
The details of that unruly situation dramatized a giving-of-self, a hilarious situation, and telling actions of the man behind the gorgeous public facade. This guy's not a nuisance, he might be a national treasure.
Without the gift of "Hidden Howie: True Stories..." I'd not have known the extent of this performer's gregarious generosity of soul, nor seen it become the source of his humor.
Amazon has something special going on here. I hope we-the-recipients are up to a proper appreciation of it.
My humble thanks, Howie, for this genuine "Welcome to your world."
As of 3/24/07 I can say welcome to my world: Coal & Coca-cola

Rating - 5 Date: 2006-06-10 Content: I knew I liked that man for more than just his good looks. He's thoughtful about his friends and, aside from being funny, he has a sense of humor, too! It seems to me, some readers who have read this short didn't see the humor in it. Why? Ya' got me. Good thing Howie wasn't around as I was reading it `cause, although I am potty trained, it was not a pretty picture. That sometimes happens to women when they laugh that hard. Okay, so maybe I'm exaggerating a bit, but I thought his shoe prank on Joe was hilarious! And boy, I would have liked to have been there with a camera at the ravine! Precious moments like that should never go unrecorded. Can you imagine that child watching old family movies of that event? Ha!
Who can put a price on laughter? To me, Howie's story is priceless, and for 49 cents I'd say I got a great deal! Summary: Much to Howie's chagrin, I nearly peed my pants!
Rating - 5 Date: 2006-03-16 Content: I enjoy hearing behind-the-scenes stories by celebrities, and Howie Mandel adds just the right amount of humor with his interesting anecdotes.
He's hilarious and has a good style of writing, too.
Thanks, Howie, for making the world LOL. You're cool ... - Betty Dravis, author of Amazon Short, V.O. Summary: THIS WAS A FUN READ! SHORT AND SWEET!
Rating - 4 Date: 2005-11-02 Content: This was a fun little short, the musings of Howie Mandel. He is a pure prankster, and there are some funny little anecdotes. I would recommend it for a light read. Summary: Some Great Pranks
