Content: I have a DeWalt 12" sliding miter saw and have not been able to find a laser guide that worked well with it. Not any more...the Irwin 3061001 Laser Guide works great. The laser line is bright enough to use the saw outside and the line is right on the money...

Content: Attached this to my older model miter saw and it works great. My cuts are a good bit more accurate. Worth the price.
Summary: Great for older miter saws.

Content: I purchased this unit to mount on an older 10" Makita miter saw. Installation was quick, but initially ran into a problem with the activating mechanism for the safety shield--it was just barely too long and rubbed the outside surface of the laser device. I added some washers that moved the shield out enough to eliminate that problem. The laser works exactly as advertised and the laser light is bright and easy to see. The laser lines up precisely with the outside (left) edge of the saw kerf.

To people that say this item is not accurate...well they are just not getting what is happening. The laser lines up with the left edge of the blade depending on the carbide tooth its going to be 1/32 or 1/16 of an inch deep left. It will be very deep right because^^^ its mounted on the left side of the blade. The product manual says it is not recommended for use with anything other then a 5/8 arbor and it is not recommended for use with an interlocking arbor. I was given one of these by my father his mitre saw is old old old and it didn't have a 5/8 arbor. I put it on my DW705 even though it had an interlocking arbor and it worked exactly like I expected. Cuts the line just a hair over to the left. After using it a bit I took it off and went back to no laser, not because there was a problem but because it is not recommended for an interlocking arbor, which means if for some reason my saw breaks/the blade flies off and chops off an arm what have you. Its my own stupid fault for not following instructions. If you have a DW705 like I do there is a specific dual line laser kit, one on each side of the blade made by avengerproducts its part number is 21361. No I am not an anvenger rep and I don't own one yet but I found it when looking for an alternative to this. Honestly this product does exactly what it is supposed to and is good at it, the Irwin I mean I don't know anything about the avender I just mentioned it since I had a DW705 and several people are looking for laser retrofits and they have quite a few kits.

    Hopefully this was helpful.
Summary: Pay Attention before you buy this

    Rating - 5 Date: 2008-05-16
Content: As a veteran contactor, I purchased this laser about a week ago, and it has been fantastic since I first installed it. The laser has a centrifugal switch which turns it on at a certain RPM. When it initially comes on, for some reason the laser beam wanders left for a few rotations before it settles on it's cut line. For my 12" DeWalt saw the beam is exactly on the mark. I have been amazed. If I make a partial cut, and raise the blade, somehow the laser mark is actually inside the saw kerf, without a trace of it showing to its left on the material. This seems mechanically impossible, but I have made enough cuts, and cleaned and adjusted my glasses enough times to attest to this fact.

I am guessing that the amount of torque you use in putting the blade on may have some impact on where the line ends up, but have not played around with this idea. For me, after using a strong arm in mounting, the laser mark was perfect.

As others have repeated, I wish there was a way to have it on both sides of the blade, but it certainly does what I had expected it to do.

I don't know what the nay sayers are talking about. Are they mechanically naive? Did they mount it backwards? Did they received a defective product? I don't know.
    Summary: Fantastic!
