Editorial Reviews Description: Be careful what you say in private. It could become a movie. Some gossip overheard by Clare Boothe Luce in a nightclub powder room inspired her Broadway hit that's wittily adapted for the screen in The Women. George Cukor directs an all-female cast in this catty tale of battling and bonding that paints its claws Jungle Red and shreds the excesses of pampered Park Avenue princesses. Joan Crawford, Rosalind Russell, Joan Fontaine, Mary Boland and Paulette Goddard are among the array of husband snatchers, snitches and lovelorn ladies. Amazon.com essential video: George Cukor, Hollywood's legendary "woman's director," had his hands full with the all-female cast of this 1939 film adaptation of the Clare Boothe play. The story finds a group of catty, competitive friends destroying reputations at social gatherings. The dialogue sparkles, Joan Crawford's performance as a husband stealer is still a classic, the film looks wonderful in Cukor's hands, and the Technicolor fashion-show scene is a one-of-a-kind Hollywood experience. --Tom Keogh

Rating - 5 Date: 2008-12-02 Content: I fell in love with this movie the first time I saw it. It wasn't until the end that it hit me -- there were no men in the actual scenes. Men were the main subject, but it was all women. A great cast of women from the 30's & 40's. The costumes are great (what it must have looked like in color when they filmed it -- wow!). This is one of my favorite films. Summary: Classic Movie with Classy Actresses
Rating - 5 Date: 2008-12-01 Content: This is a wonderful classic movie... one of few to showcase women of the times as primary cast... ahead of it's time... also great for historical view of women... good for young women today to see where they came from and how far they have come... Summary: Great Movie
Rating - 5 Date: 2008-11-20 Content: I have watched this movie many times. I am very intrigued by the acting and how it different it compares to today's acting, the runway show, the styles, everything. Although, I'm pretty sure if my hubby cheated on me, we'd be done...otherwise, this is a movie right? I loved it! Summary: Funny, Witty - Great Movie!
