Rating - 2 Date: 2009-01-01 Content: I read that this gadget was heavy, but I didn't believe it. It's made of plastic and aluminum, how heavy can it be? Well it weighs in at almost 15 ounces! At 8" long and 4-1/2" wide, it's built like a battleship.
Try and use this on a smaller telescope and you'll have quite a balancing chore to perform. It appears to be sized for an older generation of much larger cameras.
One good thing, the little L-shaped foot at the bottom is threaded like a camera, so if your camera and scope are light enough, just clamp them both to this behemoth and screw the adapter itself to the tripod.
If this were half the size and half the weight, it would be a winner. As it is, I can't imagine how I'll use it. Summary: Too big, too heavy
Rating - 5 Date: 2008-11-09 Content: This piece makes a breeze to take pictures on the microscope with common small digital cameras. Centering of the light is easy. Filling the field of the camera with the image is crucial but readily achieved. Stability of the system is great. I additionally recommend doing white background adjustment in manual mode, self-timer of 2 seconds and suppressed flash. Pictures are nearly as good as with dedicated microscope cameras worth thousands of dollars. Summary: The best microscope camera adapter I have found
Rating - 4 Date: 2008-08-04 Content: Works good with a little work. I have a Kodak Dx7590 and it does not fit. A little work and extra pieces and you can get it to work. Just be careful if you have a wide camera with a longer lens it may not fit.
Summary: Good but
Rating - 3 Date: 2008-05-18 Content: I bought this in hopes that I could use it with my Kodak P-850 SLR digital camara, in conjunction with my Celestron 130 SLT telescope to obtain digital photos.
Sorry to say that it doesn't have the required focal length for my camara. I added a bracket, to obtain the length, but it took alot of work, & time to get MY camara to work on my telescope.
Limited (short) focal distance. Better to spend the extra money, and get a better "universal" digital camara adapter.
It would work ok, (I think) for the lower end, (Small objective lens) "point & shoot" camaras. Summary: Digital camara adapter
Rating - 3 Date: 2007-10-31 Content: I've owned this Celestron 93626 Universal Digital Camera Adapter for two weeks. I used it for birding, digiscoping. It is solidly built but a bit too heavy (over balancing my Kowa 60mm scope). Also, it does NOT fit ultra compact cameras. My Canon SD800is is too small to work with this product. I assume that similarly sized cameras will also not work (3.5" x 2").
Amazon has great customer service and returns. So you may wish to try it out yourself. Summary: Solid, Heavy, Too Big
