Rating - 1 Date: 2008-11-28 Content: I purchased my All-Clad Slow Cooker in September of 2007. I was very pleased with it and at that time felt it was worth the money. I used it through the winter months, then didn't use it again until this fall(2008). When I tried to turn it on, the digital read out would not fully come on. I feared it was shorting out but after about 10 minutes, it began to function. Unfortunately, the next time I tried, it would not turn on at all. I have passed the 1 year warranty time period but will try to call customer service after the Thanksgiving holidays. I'm not sure if they will help me and I feel for the cost of the cooker, one year of use is very unfair. Summary: Defective control buttons
Rating - 3 Date: 2008-11-19 Content: I bought my All Clad slow cooker to match the rest of my All Clad cookware (MC2). The point of my review is that I wish that the insert was not warped, which causes the lid to fit incorrectly. Actually when the lid is placed on a flat surface you can see where it too is warped. I noticed both of these defects before even attempting to use the cooker once. Perhaps I simply got a bum cooker?
Not the quality I expected from All Clad (this one is made in China) but I'm still willing to get them another chance and plan to buy the nicer one from Williams-Sonoma for a bit more money. Summary: Wish the lid fit better & Ceramic insert wasn't warped
Rating - 5 Date: 2008-11-12 Content: I've had a few "slow cookers" in the past, but frankly seldom used them and ultimately ended up getting rid of them because they were either too small for large meals (and leftovers----the most important benefit of this type of cooking!) and also because they were so often unattractive. Shallow you're saying? Well it's no longer a concern. This cooker is beautiful when it's on the counter, it works fantastically well and the controls are very easy to operate and understand. My only complaint is that when one spends this amount of $$ on a slow cooker that there is really no excuse for not being able to put the insert directly on the stove top for browning......To have to spend additional $$ on top of this already hefty price is crazy. So far I've made terrific meals from Chili to Chicken to stews... all w/ no recipes just my own "whatever is on hand" approach and everything has been great. It's easy to clean and maintain as well. Summary: Expensive but beautiful!
Rating - 4 Date: 2008-11-02 Content: The cooker works like a charm, but be careful with the removable parts (glass lid and ceramic insert).
The ceramic insert arrived shattered (amazon.com was incredibly efficient in quickly shipping a replacement). When the glass lid slipped out of my hand, hitting the kitchen floor, and shattering into hundreds of bits, a replacement-lid purchase direct from All-Clad was quite slow in coming.
My bad luck, all, of course. But, the cooker works fine, even when covered w/ aluminum foil in place of the included glass lid. Summary: handle with care
Rating - 5 Date: 2008-10-30 Content: I bought three different "crock pots" thinking it was ridiculous to pay this much for a slow cooker - all three cooked too quickly, kept warm at uneven temps, and the crockery insert cracked within a year. I LOVE this thing - very reliable, even temp, looks beautiful on the counter. Worth the price ... Summary: Best Ever!
