Content: This product arrived on time in good condition. I thought I had properly followed the instructions to make waffles, but when the bell rang and I opened the appliance, half of the waffle stuck to the top. I called customer service and they said I should have used more cooking oil. I cannot imagine what an unhealthy breakfast these waffes must be if you have to add that much oil. I may try Pam next time, but so far, I am not impressed with this product.
    Summary: too much oil

Content: I got this as a gift 2 days ago. I tried it out to surprise my girlfriend with a nice breakfast and I didn't get anywhere near it. I read the instructions very carefully. And here's what happened...

    1) As soon as I closed the lid, batter oozed out of the front getting all over the control dial. I barely put any batter in. I just wanted to test it.
    2) When the tone sounded, i tried to open the lid and it wouldn't open. It was basically welded shut from batter, and this was only on cooking level 1.
    3) I tried with a little more strength to open the lid and the handle came flying off. With the handle in my hand, there were metal pieces that were supposed to keep the handle on that were all over my counter.
    4) This puzzles me; after the handle came off, the top of the waffle iron came up. This is the top heating compartment where you see the wiring. Why why why would you use the handle as the part to keep this important lid on?
    5) It is now 4 hours later and I finally got the iron open. Apparently, the batter ran into the tiny reservoir for run-off and that's what stuck it shut. Why would they make a reservoir that wasn't non-stick? Thenagain, when I pulled the waffles out, they were glued to the top and bottom and came off in pieces.

Do Not Buy. It's a wolf in sheep's clothing. Good brand name, crap product. I am returning this tomorrow.
Summary: Broken Handle & Welded Shut

Content: Looks great, works better. This has got to be the fastest waffle iron I've ever used. The preheat is very quick, as is the cooking time. The tone to let you know it's ready is also nice.
    Summary: Very Pleased

Content: My mother's vintage Sunbeam waffle iron which I remember coming into our house when I was 6 years old (I'm 58 now) finally had to be 'put down'. I tried to replace it with an exact replica but the prices were out of site and I never won the bidding wars so I brought this brand new one into our home and I love it!!!
It's fast and it looks cool. After reading all of the comments that people have submitted, so I would know what to watch out for, I practice every weekend and it just gets better and better each time I use it. I've learned to thin the batter out more than I thought I would and to use less than the 2 cups called for in the recipe and also to spread the batter around. I'm not too fussy about filling all the squares for now, that will come later as we get more used each other. Right now I'm more concerned about the temperature, not sticking and taste. Perfection is an acquired art, right?
    Summary: It's a Winner
