Editorial Reviews Amazon.com Product Review: What a pleasure it is to sand on this oscillator, especially if you're accustomed to chucking a drum sander into your drill press. It's powerful, quiet and has a generous worktable, along with throat plates to match each size drum. Everything stores neatly on board the sander and keeps it ready to use.The dust collection is probably our favorite feature; sanding like this makes a wicked mess, but just hook up your shop vacuum to the dust port, and nearly all the sawdust you make will get sucked away. Granted, it does make a strange sound as the spindle oscillates when you've got the vac running, but some ear protection isn't a bad idea anyway when your vac is on. The oscillation really does a great job of removing stock when you're using a coarse grit, and with finer grit, you get a nice smooth finish, especially on scroll-sawn work.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste What's in the Box Sander, throat plates, sanding drums, sanding sleeves

Rating - 5 Date: 2008-12-22 Content: I gave this product to my husband for his birthday. He makes wooden toys, and he loves the sander. He says it really saves his arms and elbows a lot of stress and sands the cars nice and smooth without any hand sanding. Summary: amazing sander
Rating - 4 Date: 2008-10-07 Content: I bought this Wilton (99179)Oscillating Spindle Sander on 09/28/08 and its been a great sander so far. The only issue I have with it, is when I pulled it out of the box the table top was peeling up a little bit. Taken care of with some glue though. I used it for a constant 1 1/2 hours the other day without shutting it off. Works Great, Didn't miss a beat! Summary: Very nice Sander
Rating - 1 Date: 2008-09-08 Content: Bought this sander for home workshop. Very light use, just handy to have so I bought one. Didn't want to spend an arm and a leg to have a handy little gizmo. In less than one hour of operating time, poof! It will spin with the best of them, but the oscillating portion of the machine disappeared. Pretty much eliminates the allure of an oscillating sander.
Learned my lesson. Save up and buy a quality machine. I've sent an inquiry in to Wilton warranty folks. We'll see what develops. The Amazon return window closed per rules, and that's ok. But I bought it in August 2008 and I personally think even a cheap sander should work for at least a few months instead of the 4 months I've had it.
Anyway, no more Wilton products, I'll work out something to buy their high end products, Jet. I have a great appreciation of Jet and their customer service. Summary: Broke within One Hour of Operation
Rating - 5 Date: 2008-07-07 Content: I purchased this in March 2007 and I have been very happy with its performance. It is relatively quiet, sands efficiently, and has a good dust collection system. Recommend highly! Summary: Wonderful tool for the money!
Rating - 5 Date: 2008-04-23 Content: For light use, it is a great deal. It does the job and has all the basic elements of a good spindle sander. You can install an external rheostat to regulate speed. I recommended it to several friends who bought it, and they all liked it. Summary: Cheap and good.
