Editorial Reviews Product Description: Fireplaces are energy losers! Researchers have determined that an open damper on an unused fireplace in a well-insulated house can raise overall heating energy consumption by 30%! The Fireplace Draftstopper is an energy-saving device for the fireplace. Why Does a Home With a Fireplace Have Higher Heating Bills? Hot air rises! The fireplace is like a giant straw - sucking your heated air from your house. This is like leaving a large window open all winter long! The Solution - Install a Fireplace Draftstopper! Most fireplaces have dampers designed to prevent both cold downdrafts and space heating losses. These damper plates however provide little help after the fireplace has had a few roaring hot fires which cause the metal plates to warp and become misaligned. Many gas fireplaces are not even provided with a damper! The solution is to install a fireplace plug. The Fireplace Draftstopper a unique product that has been designed to be a removable plug for the fireplace. The Fireplace Draftstopper is an inflatable nylon-urethane pillow measuring 21" x 43". It is quickly and easily installed in the fireplace just below the damper. The Draftstopper seals the fireplace to an effective 95-98% seal. It can be adapted to work in almost all fireplaces. It is the easiest and most inexpensive way to stop valuable warm air from leaving your home and minimizing drafts from your fireplace. It can pay for itself in just 1 heating bill! Designed for quick, easy, CLEAN, installation and removal. Featured on Good Morning America and HGTV! Order for your fireplace today!

Rating - 5 Date: 2008-12-18 Content: I ordered two directly from their website. One of them had a slow leak. I called them up and they sent out a replacement immediately at no cost. That alone deserves 5 stars!
As for the plugs, they work as advertised. Don't expect them to create an airtight seal because they don't and the product description doesn't claim to either. However, it does dramatically reduce drafts, just doesn't completely eliminate them. The installation is fairly simple. Results will very depending on how it's installed. For example, I find that it creates a better seal if I don't inflate it completely. I was able to get optimal performance after a few tries.
The alternative was to get top dampers. That'll probably give me a closer to airtight seal but for my area, it cost $500-$800 installed. I figured I had nothing to lose to give these a try and I'm very glad I did. Summary: Great service and works too.
Rating - 5 Date: 2008-12-12 Content: Batic Door Energy Conservation ... I purchased two fireplace pillows from this firm. From order to receipt took 3 days. Installation was as easy as the instructions said it would be. One of them failed. I sent an email to Batic and within one day, the replacement was on my doorstep. I installed it, same day, and it is holding up and working just fine. Thanks for exposing me to such an easy inexpensive method of reducing drafts in "this old house"! Rating - 1 Date: 2008-12-11 Content: This is designed for more modern homes. Although it is advertized to fit all chimneys, it was difficult to install in our 1920s home and does not make a seal. It reduces the size of the energy hole, but does not prevent airflow and heat loss up the chimney. Summary: does not fit our chimney
Rating - 4 Date: 2008-12-06 Content: The plug has been installed, a tad bit cumbersome, and seems to be helping. I'm glad I made the purchase. FYI - the company I ordered from sent out my order the same day.....incredible service! Summary: Worth Money Spent
Rating - 5 Date: 2007-01-22 Content: I just put this in my chimney, and I have noticed an immediate difference. I used to be able to feel a draft when I was near the fireplace, but now I feel nothing. I haven't seen a utility bill since I put it in, but I'm sure that it is going to pay for itself pretty quickly. There is really no other option besides this or something like it to block the chimney off, so I highly recommend this. Summary: Works Great!
