Content: I needed a combination cable modem and wireless router and this Motorola unit was the best I found. I had no prior experience in setting up a "home network" - whatever that is - and the Motorola was very easy to setup and works great. No hassle - I recommend it.
    Summary: Easy setup, works great.

Content: got it yesterday from amazon.

it didn't work right out of the box, but a couple calls to comcast tech support at got me going.

i set it up via wired connection to my vista laptop; then i unplugged the wire and tested the whole house: vista laptop, iMac, hp network printer, and iPhone are all connecting wirelessly. no problems except for xbox live.

to the best of my knowledge, it is not compatible with xbox live gold because you can't configure the NAT for uPNP.

out of the box you won't even get to xbox live silver until you type 192.168.100.1 into your browser and then under gateway/lan/DHCP config: change iMTU to 1500 (the default from Motorola is zero).

this is good enough for me so that i can download demos and game updates, but if you want xbox live gold then i think it requires a wired router to plug in between the SBG900 and the Xbox360? (i haven't comfirmed it but portforward.com says you need a static IP and the router would give you that without screwing up the rest of the home network:

    http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Motorola/SBG900/Xbox_Live_360.htm

so overall it's a stable and fast cable modem!! but i am taking a star away because of the extreme geek headache it gave me while i spent a couple days trying to get my xbox to connect =(

Summary: not compatible with xbox live gold

Content: I've had this modem/wireless router for about a month - it was easy to set up - i did call the cable provder to give them the mac ID, then i just turned it on and let my computer search for it - easy. I did not use the enclosed software cd. In fact, I found it to be worthless.

I thought, for a few weeks, it was faulty because it seemed to cut out randomly. Then i figured out that whenever the 2.4 ghz wirelss phone received a call it would cut the connection from the router - i just nixed the phone (it only is a tool for phone spammers anyway!). Now it's pretty much flawless.

Bear that in mind, about the 2.4 ghz phone. You might have to make a work around to fix that. Perhaps some smart person out there has already figured out a way around this (other than chucking the phone).

Another note - this modem is really fast - at least compared to the crummy one i had before. My whole reason for getting a better modem/wireless router was for the Netflix/Xbox streaming movie watching application. It works very well for that - flawless playback of high def movies through netflix/x box. Great success! (Works very well with x box live also).
Summary: Works Fine - watch out for 2.4 Ghz phone interference

Content: Set-up wasn't too bad, but I'm not too impressed with the range. I've had to add a range booster for a computer I have in the basement.
Summary: Easy set-up. Range is average.

Content: Easy to set up and so far no issues whatsoever (knock on wood). So much nicer not having a cable modem plus a wireless router.
    Summary: So far so good!
