Content: I bought this product based on the consistently positive reviews of HTC products. Here is a summary:
Pros
- Relativelu heavy gauge welded steel construction
- Size is accurate to specifications
Cons
- Base is not adjustable - there is not a full base under the rails - just relatively small welded plates in each of the 4 corners.
- Level that lifts the mobile base at front is a horrible design. It works ok once put together. However, it is only bolted with two very inadequate bolts to a side plate with no support from underneath. The entire weight of the equipment will be lifted and lowered with these two bolts. Plan trips to the hardware store now. It took me 30 minutes just to get the two nuts and bolts into the holes and tightened due to tight access issues. Horrendous.
- As for the other 2 fixed wheels...the hardware supplied is useless. Bolts are not long enough. No washers provided. If I didn't have a ton of bolts and washers in my garage, I would have had to make a least a half dozen trips to the hardware store. It is that bad.
- Ineffective brake system. The levers work great once mounted, but locking them down doesn't prevent the wheels from turning. I read the directions also and made sure to install the brake plates accurately.
- Lastly, the instructions are completely useless.
Bottom line - if I could do this over, I would go with a Jet base.
