This polisher is powerful enough to polish out scratches, swirls, and oxidation in the clear coat to restore the finish of your vehicle. Unlike a dual-action polisher which automatically walks across the surface, this circular polisher allows you to control the movement and focus on tough imperfections.

It has an adjustable, variable speed dial to set rpm from 600 to 3000 for super slow buffing to aggressive polishing. The lock-on button allows you to use the Makita continuously at one speed. The electronic speed control maintains constant speed under load.

The tool is ergonomically designed with multiple handle positions for better pressure control and less fatigue. Providing comfortable, relaxed grip options allows you to keep the polisher gliding in an easy, slow controlled sweep over the surface.

Content: This is a good tool. The motor is powerful with plenty of torque and yet well controlled with the variable speed selector. Most of the time I use the 300 rpm setting. At all speeds the machine is forgiving. The handles are well designed and allow a good range of grips. Some reviewers have commented negatively on the handles. Seems to be a non-issue for me. Especially nice if you are ambidextrous. I have worked with the tool for periods of 2 to 3 hours without fatigue. I have owned Makita tools for over 25 years. This one seems to be of as good quality as my electric 10" miter box (purchased in 1979). The cord is long but to work around a car I use a 12 ga. extension cord. I am using foam pads (purchased separately from Palm Beach Automotive) and the wool pads that came with the tool. Learning curve is not steep. Very important to me is the noise level of any tool. Construction work is bad for your hearing. This tool is quieter than many I have used. I do not intend to use this as a sander and can't comment on how it would work. I compared this with the Porter-Cable machine. It is a better tool. A few dollars more less do not matter when you will have a tool for the rest of your life.

Content: Just as described which is just what I needed. I changed it to a 4" driver pad for polishing stone. It worked great. I like the variable speed which is hard to find on a tool. Can't wait to use it to get the scratches out of my car.

Content: I needed this Sander/Polisher for both sanding and polishing (Imagine that).

The unit itself is excellent and I love the fact that I can dial it down to 600 RPM. It is really a high quality unit and I'm sure it will outlive me.

Despite being advertised as a "Sander/Buffer" the kit does not have any sanding accessories and the sanding pad is difficult to locate on the web. I opted to purchase the additional pad that lists at the same time as the machine, but it just turns out to be another buffer pad, which is already included with the kit. So, after it was all said and done I had to place an additional order to get the sanding pad.

Other than all that, I love the unit itself.
