Rating - 4 Date: 2009-01-08 Content: Once I got the router to connect with my DSL modem, surfing has been great. I'm running a Mac, and even following the excellent instructions Linksys provides on their web page, I spent about 2 hours in trial-and-error mode trying to make a connection.
Security is excellent on this model, range is acceptable, and it's pretty fast. Overall, I'm very pleased with this purchase. Summary: Works great, once it decides to connect
Rating - 5 Date: 2009-01-07 Content: Setup was straight forward. Helps to be knowledgeable about addressing home networking functions. Had it up and running in about 30 minutes, handshaking between my desktop, notebook and printer. Notebook retained good reception and speed even at far end of house, nearly 80 ft away. Great piece of gear. Decided to go with G broadband till N is proven technology. G is plenty fast for my needs. Would highly recommended this router to a friend. Summary: just simply works
Rating - 4 Date: 2009-01-06 Content: Great product once I got it hooked up. It required a call to the service center to connect to my i-Mac. It might prove easier to connect to with a Windows product. Summary: No Way Could I Have Done This Alone
Rating - 5 Date: 2009-01-06 Content: I purchased Linksys Wireless Router to work with my two PC's and XBox 360. And results are exactly what I expected from Linksys. I would recommend this for it's easy to use setup and price. Summary: Linksys Wireless G Router
Rating - 2 Date: 2009-01-06 Content: I purchased the Linksys wireless router to replace my netgear, which was working, but kept dropping the wired connection. I am relatively computer savvy, but could not get a connection. So I called customer service, who said that the problem was very easy to fix, but that they needed to charge me an additional $10 to access my computer and fix it. I asked them wasn't this covered with the warranty, and they said no, because they have to actually have someone go in. I informed them that my computer worked with the other wireless router, and that I wasn't paying another $[...] on top of what I already paid.
My advice--I told them that I'd rather return the router than spend another $10 just to get past the installation process, and they finally yielded.
So what was the problem? The router login site is 192.168.1.1 and I just needed to set the key passphrase. On Netgear, it was [...] or something like that. So all they had to tell me was the router login site, and this was supposed to be the reason they needed access to my computer.
Like I said, great product--this thing has not dropped connection both wireless and wired, great speeds--but customer service leaves something to be desired. Summary: Great router, poor customer service
