Editorial Reviews Product Description: A prince from another planet ponders life with a pilot in the desert. From the antoine de saint-exupery tale. Studio: Paramount Home Video Release Date: 04/06/2004 Starring: Richard Kiley Bob Fosse Run time: 88 minutes Rating: G Director: Stanley Donen Amazon.com: A pilot crash-lands in the Sahara desert, and is surprised to meet a tiny prince with a sword... but who doesn't know the story of the beloved book by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry? The slim philosophical classic has delighted millions, and the 1974 musical of the book has its own charms. Scored by the estimable team of Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe and directed by Stanley Donen, this is a tuneful piece of whimsy that's better in moments than it is overall. Two guest appearances energize the second half: Gene Wilder as a lonely fox, and the superbly slinky Bob Fosse as a salacious snake (Fosse choreographed his own number, a welcome touch of Cabaret amidst the whimsy). Some of the book's slight observations don't translate well to the literalness of the screen, but that won't matter to kids, who should be hooked from the very first "Draw me a sheep." --Robert Horton

Rating - 4 Date: 2009-01-06 Content: I bought this movie for my son. He loves the movie. The movie got here relatively quickly and he enjoyed it. The movie brings to life the book that it is based on. The movie has great actors, and the boy who plays the little prince does an unbelievable job. I would recommend this movie to anyone. Summary: Great Movie
Rating - 1 Date: 2008-12-27 Content: If you are a fan of the charming St-Exupery novel, avoid this! Many of the characters are obnoxious at best. For instance, the rose, who is charming and vulnerable in the novel, comes across as a high maintenance hooker in the movie. Please! A massive disappointment to our whole family, adults and children alike. Summary: Massive disappointment
Rating - 3 Date: 2008-12-21 Content: This is not a great film, but it's a classic story and the little boy who plays the Little Prince is terrific. Also, it's just great to see Bob Fosse on screen...and Gene Wilder. The score is less than memorable. But there are moments when the beauty of the book comes through. Really, the book is the true art. Summary: Not a great film, but still a classic
Rating - 5 Date: 2008-12-14 Content: When my son was a little boy, I took him to Radio City Hall in New York City to see "The Little Prince." It was a wonderful movie, full of imagination and a positive message for all ages. Recently, I decided to see if I could find a copy of the movie, so that I could share it with my son's three young children - and alas, I found it thru Amazon. Well, I must tell you that it was a family event - my son loved it, his children love it, my daughter-in-law (who had never seen the movie and wished she had) enjoyed it immensely. I personally found great joy in sharing this wonderful story with my family. Summary: A wonderful movie for every family member.
Rating - 1 Date: 2008-08-17 Content: I was disappointed that it didn't follow the storyline of the book.
In some respects, the movie was too silly. I think that the movie missed some of the important messages from the story book. Summary: Little Prince DVD
