Rating - 3 Date: 2008-08-29 Content: This kit of average. You can get a better kit for the same price at your local W*l-Mart. Summary: Decent Kit
Rating - 4 Date: 2008-07-03 Content: the sound quality coming out these wires is great and the price isnt the worst.. Summary: Great quality
Rating - 2 Date: 2008-04-12 Content: The product was shipped promptly. It seems adequate for a relatively low powered amp. I'm no expert, but it's been brought to my attention that the true gauge of the power/ground wires in this kit are far below 4 Gauge. This will probably prove problematic should I wish to further upgrade my sound system. Summary: ok
Rating - 2 Date: 2008-02-14 Content: When I bought this item there was only one person on here saying bad things about the kit. Anyone who has bought this kit needs to disconnect their power wire and take a look at how much actual copper wire in inside the insulation. The price of the kit is really good.......but if you need to power a good size amp you can forget about this thing doing the job.
the reason I bought the kit was to power a kenwood kac-x20 amp(which only requires 8 gauge wire) which I was going to hook up for the mean time. I also have a kenwood kac-x40 amp which i was going to buy a distribution block for the so called 4 gauge power wire and run 8 gauge from there to the two amps. But with the wire being so thin that will not work with what I want to do. So needless to say I will be returning this kit sender. Summary: LOOK AT THE COPPER!!!!
Rating - 2 Date: 2008-01-10 Content: Although I had high hopes for this product because of the positive reviews I was ultimately disappointed!
This product claims to contain 4 gauge power cables but in reality this is true only because of the amount of insulating material bulking the overall diameter. The most important component of the cable, which is the copper core conductor, is substantially lacking in this kit. I have some 8 gauge lightning audio power wire from a previous install that has almost twice as much copper than this supposed "4 gauge" wire.
Once I stripped the cable and began to crimp the 4 awg ring terminals that are included in the kit I found they needed to be folded over more than 50% because the copper strands filled only about a third of the space inside the connector. It should have almost filled the connector completely and a good pinch with the crimping tool would have done it. Not so.
Unfortunately copper is expensive and is apparently the reason that there is not much included in this CHEAP kit. I knew I should have trusted my gut and I will be returning this product today.
If you have an actual requirement for the power capacity of a true 4 gauge cable this kit will not meet your needs. It will however make the install unnecessarily difficult because you will be pulling over insulated bulky cable with no benefit for its size.
This is not a good deal!!!
I have spent my last 8 years as a Electronics Technician in the US Navy Summary: Misleading product - more insulation than copper wire
