The GranPappy holds up to six cups of oil or three pounds of shortening, and it can accommodate up to six servings of food at a time. The internal thermostat keeps the oil at the optimum frying temperature. An accompanying scoop, slotted for draining, is for lifting food in and out or for turning food halfway through the cooking time. The power cord has a magnetic safety connection, so that if the unit is jostled during cooking, the cord will disconnect, shutting power off immediately. After straining the used oil, it can be poured back into the unit and stored, covered by the accompanying snap-on plastic lid.

After frying, unplug the unit and allow it to cool completely before attempting to empty oil. Wash the GranPappy with warm, sudsy water and dry it thoroughly; it is not immersible. To preserve the nonstick finish, inside and out, do not use steel wool or harsh, abrasive cleansers. The Presto GranPappy measures 8 by 8-1/2 inches. Content: I've had a fry baby for years and years of dedicated service, but always dreamed of having a bigger one. The grandpappy is a monster. It looks smaller than it really is, and oh how sweet it is!!!! I simply adore it, and expect it will last forever like the little frybaby, which is probably near 20 years old and still going strong. Both fry everything perfectly between 350-375 degree's. I couldn't be happier!!!

Content: I have had this type of fryer for over fifteen years. Mine went out last month in the middle of frying chicken. I was so upset. I went out the next day shopping and could not find the Granpappy fryer anywhere...I came back and went on-line and found it. I love it and it's so convienent. It heats up fast and cooks evenly. I just love this fryer, plus you can store your oil in it after use. It's fantastic!

Content: After I've used it a couple times, I was very impressed with how this fryer cooks. I was shocked how fast it cooks. Plus, it is bargain and I think the size is absolutely perfect. It's not too small where it doesn't cook enough food or too big and bulky. It can cook a lot of food for its size. The negative is that it could have come with a lid that you can cook with but it doesn't splash if you lower the food in carefully. Great product that I highly recommend!

Content: I used to own a Fry daddy and was looking for something bigger. I ended up buying a fryer that had temperature control and a basket. It was a horrible experience. The other fryer couldn't get hot enough and my food would absorb a ton of oil. So I threw it away and purchased the GranPappy. I love this! It always heats up to the right temp and my food ends up golden and crispy. I only gave it a four because it has no temp control so I couldn't use it for other things(like candy)and I wish it had a basket. It is perfect if you are looking for something to do french fries or egg rolls (my favorites.
