Editorial Reviews Product Description: This Zoo Sounds Peg Puzzle is a twist on the classic puzzle. Sounds are played when the puzzle pieces are properly placed on the board. It's a fun and unique way to reinforce cause-and-effect, early vocabulary and matching skills. Measures 9" x 12". Requires 2 "AAA" batteries (not included).

Rating - 1 Date: 2009-01-01 Content: Awful Awful Awful! I am a teacher and was uphauled by the poor educational value this puzzle has. Let me go through the points:
1. the sound quality is terrible, and the sounds don't even sound like animals. We got the zoo animals, transportation and farm animals. When I wasn't looking I couldn't even match one of the animals sound to the animal name. I can't imagine that it would be that challenging to make a duck sound like a duck.
2. The sensors don't always work and when they do it's at an inapropriate time. I'll be in the other room making dinner and all of a sudden the pig (or was it a pig?) will begin squaking
3. The puzzle pieces don't quite fit correctly, so this can be frustrating for the child
So, overall I wouldn't waste your money. It's not your typical nice Melissa and Doug quality. Sad, very sad. Summary: Teacher finds fault
Rating - 3 Date: 2008-12-29 Content: Overall, nice puzzle. My 21 month-old is just learning, so it's challenging for her. Although it's light sensitive, ours makes noise randomly even with all the pieces in...kinda creepy sometimes! Summary: Nice puzzle...
Rating - 5 Date: 2008-11-26 Content: My daughter had a hard time learning to do puzzles and this was perfect for her as a baby! Each animal makes a different noise when you put the piece in the correct spot, to motivate kids to keep trying. I LOVE this puzzle! Summary: Awesome!
Rating - 3 Date: 2008-10-06 Content: I read the other reviews about these sound puzzles but I figured I'd still give them a try. The pictures are great, but the sounds are totally weird and are a little scary, the zebra in particular is awful. These puzzles are definitely light sensitive so we found that we couldn't leave them in our sons room b/c as the sun came in and out of the clouds or set for the evening and rose in the morning they would randomly start making all of their lovely animals noises, a little weird. They couldn't make the puzzle so that the corresponding pieces were the only thing that makes the noise activate?? Okay toy, but nothing great. Summary: Just Okay
Rating - 5 Date: 2008-04-24 Content: My kids adore all of their Melissa and Doug puzzles and we love that they are challenging, yet easy to use. Tip: make sure to put all the pieces back in after each use. Every night when we turn out the lights we have a virtual concert of barks and monkey noises, but it is fun. We tell the animals good night after we identify the sounds with the kids. Summary: Fun and easy puzzle for a toddler
