    Amazon.com Product Review:
Anyone who's ever used a router understands the satisfaction that a cleanly cut rabbet or mortise can give. But if you're working on small-scale projects, such as jewelry boxes or models, that monster three-horsepower fixed-base router with the 1/2-inch bit is simply overkill.

That's where the Dremel 335 comes in. This plunge-router adapter is meant to be used with the Dremel rotary tools (models 400, 398, 395, 300, 285, and 275), which accommodate 1/8-inch diameter bits. If you already own one of these tools, buying the attachment is a great way to get an instant router without having to shell out the extra forty or fifty bucks for a single-purpose machine (that may be too big for what you're doing anyway).

Assembling the attachment is simple: just remove the housing cap from your Dremel, reassemble the collet nut, then place the tool into the router attachment. The tool is secured in the attachment with a mounting nut and wrench (both included).

The attachment features two plunge depths, which are locked in via a rotary hand grip. Setting routing depth can be a little tricky: it's a good idea to practice on scrap until you get a feel for it. The clear base gives you good stability and lets you see exactly what you're doing, as does the narrow profile of the Dremel tool itself. The attachment also includes an adjustable edge guide that works very well.

If you're working on small projects are willing to experiment with the settings, this is the router for you.--Josh Dettweiler

Content: Does whats its suppose to w/ no issues, the fence is very hand for inline routing. It has depth stops and a locking know that make it very easy to adjust plunge depth. Used it several times now w/ no problems.

Content: This is a great product for small applications. I am using it to route guitar cavities. Pickups, neck pocket, control cavity, etc. I can see what I am doing and can go slowly. Yes it takes more time than a huge router, but this works for me. It fits my dremel perfectly and you can see and have access to change the bit. I read another review that said you needed to remove the dremel to change the bit. That doesn't apply and is not correct unless the person had a mis match with the dremel. It specifies which dremels fit this rig. Be sure yours is on the list.
I love this thing. If you are doing small jobs try it. This is also the best price I found including ebay.
    Summary: Great product

Content: The Dremel plunge router base is a great accessory, but you have to recognize its limitations and live within them.

Rotary tools work at high speeds, but they produce low torque. This means they just won't chew through lots of hard materials very well-- or at all. The trick is to let the bit shave away the wood. This means routing in a series of passes, not all at once. When you use it this way, this plunge router base is a real winner. You can do decorative work with a Dremel freehand, but this base is the only way to achieve consistent depth in straight lines. With a little practice-- and some good luck-- it's even possible to "write" cursively with it on wood.

A real issue is the price of the bits. Dremel brand bits are very high quality, but they're also pricey. Brand X bits are cheaper, but they tend to wear out more quickly. Of course, this is an issue with all Dremel tools and accessories, not just this plunge base, but it is something to think about.

So, as is the case with all tools, you have to understand and live within its limitations. I'm very happy I bought this accessory, and I'd gladly do so again.
Summary: A great accessory, with limitations
