Editorial Reviews Product Description: An update to KitchenAid's most popular small appliance is their latest masterpiece - the 5-qt. Artisan Series Stand Mixer. In comparison to their previous 4.5-qt., this one is larger in capacity and combines a 325-watt motor with a heavy duty transmission that supplies constant power even when mixing heavy bread dough. Convenient, the polished stainless steel bowl is sized to hold large batches and recipes, and with its wide open design, accommodates the beater from the tilt-back head once it's lowered into the bowl. The handle on the bowl is ergonomically designed, contoured to fit the hand, facilitating lifting and pouring. Like the other models, this one, too, features KitchenAid's unique mixing action - the beater moves clockwise while the shaft moves counterclockwise, enabling the beater to reach every area as it mixes. It features 10 speeds from a very high to a very low stir. Included with your new stand mixer is a clear, two-piece pouring shield that fits around the top of the bowl, preventing splashes. A large chute lets you add ingredients along the way. Accessories include a Wire Whip, Flat Beater and Dough Hook for versatility. The rugged, durable, all-metal construction promises many years of dependability, quiet operation, and cooking and baking bliss.

Rating - 5 Date: 2008-12-01 Content: I can't add much to what's already been written, but I bought mine in Onyx Black. It looks great sitting in my kitchen. I really loved the Empire Red, but I thought the Onyx would look less of a fad and go with whatever colors I decorated with in the future. I've owned a bowl-lift Pro model, but it was too tall to sit under the cabinets when not in use, and really, it had unnecessary power for just a home kitchen, in my opinion.
Also, if you have the option, get your paddle attachment in the white enamel instead of the stainless steel, it discolors if you put it through the washer. The white enameled one will hold up for years and look nice. Summary: Excellent product!
Rating - 5 Date: 2008-12-01 Content: I enjoy cooking so much, and I must say that this machine is a must. This machine makes my life much more easier in the kitchen, and it makes my food tastes a lot better. Summary: a machine that all family must have

Also the price was fabulous. Summary: Very Pleased
Rating - 5 Date: 2008-11-29 Content: I have been using it to make a lot of things, but especially sour dough bread. I am very pleased with how easy it is to use.
Delivery was excellent. I had it in less than a week from ordering. Summary: It is great.
Rating - 2 Date: 2008-11-29 Content: When using the mixer it is not possible to scrape the sides of the bowl while it is mixing so you have to stop it every so often to clean the sides. If you don't have the protector on the top and even sometimes when you do, it throws flour, etc., all over the place. It is too heavy.
I prefer the old two beater type which the bowl rotates while mixing. I am disappointed in this product. Summary: Doesn't live up to the hype.
