Editorial Reviews Description: The Apollo series captures the events of five of NASA's tremendously successful and groundbreaking manned missions to the moon. Before these expeditions, the moon was a topic full of speculation and debate. The Apollo program ended those discussions and replaced hypothesis with fact. Each documentary is loaded with stunning footage from the lunar missions and interviews with crewmembers, historians and NASA personnel involved in each flight. Behind the scenes stories, mission objectives, astronaut training, barriers and significant scientific discoveries are detailed. Apollo 12: Uncensored Apollo 12 served as the second manned mission to the moon. The mission began with what almost became certain disaster. Lightening struck the rocket twice during liftoff, cutting all electrical power. Mission control thought the mission would have to abort but after major collaborations they were able to re-power all systems and the mission went on as planned. The astronauts were equipped with a color television camera but it was rendered useless after one of the astronauts pointed it at the sun.

Rating - 4 Date: 2003-11-27 Content: Apollo 12 is the most obscure mission, in that the TV feed was stopped after Alan Bean inadvertently pointed the camera at the sun. This VHS seeks to correct that error by presenting the story of the mission. This includes interviews with all members of the crew, along with other key NASA controllers.Unfortunately due to the lack of motion picture source, the majority of footage is from other Lunar missions. However, this does not really distract from the overall presentation, as all vision is in context with what is being described. Overall a very informative documentary well worth the purchase price. My only beef is that it is not available on DVD, and thus the 4/5 rating. Summary: Great VHS
