Editorial Reviews Product Description: This generous-sized electric skillet features an attractive oval shape, yet has the same capacity as the ordinary 15-inch skillet: It roasts, stews, fries, grills, bakes, and makes easy one-dish meals: Tempered glass cover makes it an attractive buffet server when entertaining: Skillet base is constructed of heavy cast aluminum for even heating: Premium nonstick surface inside and out for easy cleaning: 1-year limited warranty: 120 volts AC, 1300 watts. Amazon.com Review: This attractively shaped oval electric skillet has the capacity of a 15-inch round skillet and cooks breakfast, lunch, or dinner for six to eight people without requiring you to turn the stove on once. Equipped with a warming setting, this skillet also works as a buffet server to conveniently brown sweet and sour meatballs or grill appetizer-sized cheese sandwiches and serve right from the same pan. The heat control ranges from 200 to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (in 50-degree increments) and automatically maintains the proper heat setting so foods cook at the same rate as they would on the stove but in a more energy-efficient manner than a range or oven. Made of heavy cast aluminum, the skillet has a beautiful white-colored nonstick interior and exterior surface so meals won’t stick and clean-up is easy. The durable tempered glass cover shows what is being served at a buffet and lets you monitor cooking progress. The skillet rests on two plastic legs that won’t transfer heat from the pan. With the heat control removed, the skillet is fully immersible in water and dishwasher-safe. Presto covers this electric skillet under a two-year warranty and warns against using metal utensils with it as they will scratch the nonstick surface. --Cristina Vaamonde
Customer Reviews Average rating - 4.5
Rating - 3 Date: 2009-01-01 Content: I received this skillet as a gift. It works great, but I will add to the long list of other users in complaining about the screws for the handles. They constantly loosen, which is at the least annoying and at the most, dangerous. And I've only used it twice so far.
As a gift, I'm fine with it. If I had paid for it, I'd be more annoyed. Summary: Good, except for the legs
Rating - 5 Date: 2008-10-28 Content: I purchased this product over a year ago and it still looks like new (after much use). It is easy to clean and heats evenly and quickly. The non-stick surface is very durable. I have been very pleased with this product and would recommend it to anyone. I will probably be giving one to my recently married friend as a house-warming gift. Summary: Great product.
Rating - 4 Date: 2008-09-16 Content: We thoroughly enjoy our new Presto electric cooker. Hope it lasts a long time Summary: Presto Professional Electric skillet and server
Rating - 4 Date: 2008-08-22 Content: Have been using this for several months now.
From a cooking standpoint, it is excellent: even heat, heats rapidly, truly non-stick surface and roomy enough for four eggs or two big pancakes.
Easy to clean and am still looking for a spot large enough to store it.
Why 4 stars and not 5? As other reviewers have pointed out, you have to constantly screw the legs back in. Amazing: you'd think the knuckleheads at Presto would have corrected that problem before making any more. In two months, I've had to do this three times - the screws keep coming loose. Don't think you can just over-tighten them - in time, that would break the plastic legs. Summary: Good Item, But Look For Better
Rating - 5 Date: 2008-05-04 Content: It has been so many years since I cooked with an electric skillet and didn't realize how much I missed having one until I received and used the Presto Electric Skillet and Server.
After using it several times, I have no complaints other than I do wish it had a steam vent in the lid. It is a great skillet-large enough to produce family meals, easy clean-up, and a very attractive item if you choose to serve from it. Other reviewers mentioned having problems with the handles which, so far, I have not.
Presto includes a small paper quick guide without recipes. However, they do give you their web address where you can download an instruction manual and buy their electric skillet cookbook, parts/accessories and other Presto products. Summary: One Fine Skillet!
