Tech Talk Objective Lens: The diameter of the objective or front lens. The larger the objective lens, the more light that enters the binocular, and the brighter the image. Field of View (F.O.V.): The side-to-side measurement of the circular viewing field or subject area. It is defined by the width in feet or meters of the area visible at 1000 yards or meters. A wide angle binocular features a wide field of view and is better for following action. Generally, the higher the magnification, the narrower the field of view. Roof Prism System: In roof prism binoculars the prisms overlap closely, allowing the objective lenses to line up directly with the eyepiece. The result is a slim, stream-lined shape in which the lenses and prisms are in a straight line. Amazon.com Product Description: The Bushnell 8x21 PowerView FRP compact binoculars combine contemporary styling and design with traditional Bushnell quality and durability. They are easy to use and economical and feature general-purpose roof prisms. They offer 8x magnification and a field of view of 378 feet at 1,000 yards in a compact 7-ounce body. Customer Reviews Average rating - 4.5
Rating - 5 Date: 2008-11-19 Content: Nice, compact, light-weight binoculars. Great for birding if you don't want to shell out the cash for a "high-end" pair. I can safely say that I see better with these and find them more comfortable (because they are so light-weight) than some of the other, pricier binoculars I've tried. My only complaint is that they aren't fully coated, which means that they fog up eventually, which means that they only last for approximately six months if you use them regularly, but what do you expect for $13? Great for the price. And for beginners. Summary: Great for Birding
Rating - 5 Date: 2008-10-13 Content: I'm not an educated binocular person. I only wanted a pair because I was going to see the show "Wicked", and I had a seat almost in the last row. I wanted to be able to see the cast's faces. These binoculars were awesome for that purpose. The magnification was almost perfect for the distance I was away from the stage. I hardly had to do any panning around. And the lenses are clear, and I was able to focus them perfectly. I never took them away from my face the whole show. Summary: Good binocs
Rating - 5 Date: 2008-10-12 Content: I was just looking for a nice small pair of binoculars to take to concerts when I would be a good distance from the stage. I seen these bushnell powerview binoculars. I read some reviews that gave me a good impression of what I was looking for and they were. I tell you. I love how small they are and easy to focus. It came with a nice case. If you are in the balcony of any performance you sure can get a closer look with this binoculars. They are really cheap and great quality. I paid under ten dollars and they were new. I recommend that you buy these binoculars. I have a big pair and this on is a nice replacement. They fold up and open easily. You can open them to curve across the bridge of your nose to your face. Focusing was simple. I never bought bushnell products before. I am impressed. Summary: excellent find
Rating - 4 Date: 2008-10-10 Content: I know very little about binoculars. I know a lot about cameras, but have never owned a pair of binocs. I wanted to buy a basic binoculars with a decent range for my photography nature trips. I wanted to survey a scene quickly with light binoculars and decided to get this one. It's cheap, had good reviews and a respectable name. Here are my views after owning it for a couple of months:
PROS:
1. Excellent value
2. Respectable name
3. Small and light
4. Good solid quality
5. Adjusting stereo vision is quick and smooth and stays in place once found
6. Comes with a nice little soft case
7. Folds up nicely
CONS:
1. Eye holes are smaller than I would like. Still see my eyelashes sometimes. This is expected of most compact binoculars.
2. Requires a decent amount of light to work. A little difficult for sunrise photography.
3. Neck string is thin and difficult to replace
Overall, this seems like a very solid product and at this price, it's a no lose choice. Summary: From the perspective of a beginner and amateur photographer
Rating - 4 Date: 2008-09-02 Content: This actually surprised me on the quality of the binocs for my 3 year old grandson. He loves birds and has had a great time using this. Perfect choice for the occasion. Good value! Summary: Great item for child birder
