    Editorial Reviews
    Product Description:
Paulsen and his team of dogs endured snowstorms, frostbite, dogfights, moose attacks, sleeplessness, and hallucinations in the relentless push to go on. Map and color photographs.

    Amazon.com Review:
Fueled by a passion for running dogs, Gary Paulsen entered the Iditarod--the 1150-mile winter sled-dog race between Anchorage and Nome-- in dangerous ignorance and with a fierce determination. Winterdance is his account of this seventeen-day battle against Nature's worst elements and his own frailty.

Content: Wow, this book was amazing. I didn't know much about the Iditarod, and the author was very informative. But to say that makes it sound boring, which it was not! I always thought dog-sledding was just going straight through the snow/ice. Boy was I ever wrong. From being dragged for miles to dropping off cliffs, sled, dogs, musher and all... Paulsen is an excellent storyteller. You couldn't find a more descriptive account of what it would be like to race the Iditarod.
This was the kind of book that I was genuinely sorry to finish. It's been three days since I finished it and I'm still in withdrawal. His addiction to dog racing is contagious.
    A wonderful account.
    Summary: A wonderful account

Content: Didn't have any idea what to expect of this book when I bought it. It was one of the most hilarous books I've ever read, starting a few pages in! I think the part where he has matches in his pocket and gets pulled across the yard by the dogs like a meteorite, to the dismay of his wife, is my favorite part. I wont give away any more, but it's one laugh after the next, combined with powerful insights that have deep meaning.I enjoyed hearing his perspective on caring for animals, very wonderful to see him treat the animals with respect and kindness. I read it then gave it to my mom, who loved it, then gave it to my husband, who loved it- and we all ending up laughing around the dinner table. I think most people would find something wonderful about it and enjoy it from beginning to end. A very special book.
Summary: One of the funniest books I have ever read.

Content: This was a good, fast read! I couldn't put it down and finished it on a cold lazy day. Anyone who loves their dogs will love this book (ok, so maybe not the foo-foo lap dog type people). Anyone who is part of a Pack.
Anyone who has been dragged by their dogs (as in having them spy a rabbit and take you across a field on your back). Anyone who sleeps with their dogs, anyone who truly LIVES with their dogs. Thoroughly enjoyable.
Summary: man, what a great read!!

Content: Gary Paulsen did a great job on this book. The humor interlaced with details on how to drive dogs and his drive to the Iditarod. I couldn't put the book down. My wife is now reading it. Highly recommended.
Summary: Great intro to the world of dog sledding with humor

Content: Laughted unitl I cried. Also, very well written and educational as a bonus. This is my second (and not last) time to read this book and can't wait to share it with a friend.
